Blues Ladies exit cup on penalties

Birmingham City Ladies exited the SSE Women’s FA Cup at the first hurdle on Sunday having lost 5-3 on penalties to Arsenal. Charlie Wellings who came on as a 119th minute sub was in tears after hitting the post with her penalty which was the only miss in the shootout.

Blues Ladies Lose Tough Encounter with League Leaders

A tough game at Solihull Moors’ Autotech Stadium saw Blues Ladies beaten 1-0 by Chelsea LFC. While the scoreline was tight there was no doubting that Chelsea had been the better side and Blues Ladies are still searching for the first win in the WSL this season.

Blues Ladies Earn Point In Feisty Draw

Birmingham City Ladies managed to hold WSL rich kids Manchester City Women to a goalless draw despite playing the second half with 10 players. Blues striker Freda Ayisi was shown a straight red card in first half injury time for punching keeper Karen Bardsley in a tussle before a corner was taken.

Tough Test in Tyresö – Blues Ladies Preview

While the men’s side face off against Leeds on Saturday seeking to avoid the ignominy of relegation Blues Ladies play Tyresö FF on Sunday knowing that a win or score draw will see them through to the UEFA Women’s Champions League final in Lisbon on May 22.

Blues Ladies Hold Tyreso 0-0

Blues Ladies held Swedish team Tyreso FF to a creditable goalless draw in the UEFA Women’s Champions League Semi Final first leg. The Swedes started as favourites but couldn’t break down a determined Blues side that could have even nicked it at the end.

Birmingham City Ladies Into Last Eight of Champions League

Blues Ladies are through to the quarter finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League after steamrollering Russian side FK Zorkiy Krasnagorsk 5-2 at St Andrews last night to win the tie 7-2 on aggregate. Goals from Izzy Christiansen, Kirsty Linnett (2), Kerys Harrop and Mel Lawley assured that David Parker’s team would be in the hat for draw on November 22.
