Birmingham City lost to Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 last night leaving them in 20th place in the SkyBet Championship with just six points from seven games. Second half goals from Stevie May and Jeremy Helan were enough to sink Blues who by most accounts had had a good first half.

Replacing Adeyemi

The Birmingham Mail confirmed last night that Tom Adeyemi will be on his way to Cardiff – possibly today, pending a medical – for a fee in excess of £1million with add-ons and a sell on fee on top of that. The More Things Change…

The weird thing with moving away from Birmingham is how easy it is to disconnect with what is going on at St Andrews. You may have noticed that in the last couple of days that there has been no updates on site and I’ve been quiet on social media and in the comments. Admittedly, a lot has to do with the changes in my worklife but I’ve also noticed how easy it is not to care so much about football when you’re not immersed in it.

New Squad, Old Challenges

Talking Points sponsored by John Hicken Industrial roofing and cladding materials

Monday sees Birmingham City return to pre-season training in preparation for the 2014/15 season. The squad will be somewhat different with nine new recruits in and nine players released (not including Chris Burke and Nikola Zigic), notwithstanding the return of the eight players who were on loan to the club. For Lee Clark it’s almost like working with a new team but there are some longstanding challenges for him to face.
