Middlesbrough Reflections
Birmingham City were denied a win by 10-man Middlesbrough who fought back and equalised Paul Caddis’ penalty with a goal from Chelsea loanee Patrick Bamford. Clayton Donaldson could have won it at the end for Blues but missed with his header condemning Blues to another winless game. Before the game, I’d have happily taken a […]

Middlesbrough Preview in Association with EZE Group
Blues take on Championship high flyers Middlesbrough tonight trying to reverse a run of fortune that has seen them not pick up a win in five games – although four of those have been draws. Boro will be hoping that their weekend cup exertions won’t take too much out of their team, knowing that a point will see them return to the top of the pile.

Cover for the sake of it
Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett has confirmed that the injury to Michael Morrison may not be as bad as first feared, and although the former Charlton vice-captain will not be able return immediately he should be back in action sooner rather than later.

Hope and Expectation – Norwich match reflections
Birmingham City were held to a goalless draw by Norwich City yesterday in freezing conditions at St Andrews. Shots on target were at a premium as both sides defended stoutly with both Paul Robinson and Jonathan Spector excelling at the back.

Defensive Cover
Birmingham City held Sheffield Wednesday to a goalless draw last night as they continued their fine run of league form. However, the point came at a price as defender Michael Morrison was withdrawn halfway through the first half with an ankle problem, leaving Blues short in the centre of defence.

The Rowett Rollercoaster
The Rowett Revolution became the Rowett Rollercoaster as Blues recovered a 2-0 half-time deficit to beat EvoStik Premier League Blyth Spartans 3-2 and secure their progress to the fourth round of the FA Cup. A first goal in 18 games for Lee Novak along with a brace from Wes Thomas in six second-half minutes shattered dreams of a big cup upset for Blyth.

Millwall Preview in Association with EZE Group
Lee Clark takes his Birmingham City side to South London knowing that his job must be on the line following the home defeat to Fulham at the weekend. With just seven points from nine games Blues find themselves in 21st place and already looking nervously at the bottom three.

Brighton Match Reflections
Birmingham City recorded their first home win in the league for a mindblowing 319 days, denying Cambridge United the chance to lose their share in the unwanted record for most consecutive home league games without a win. A Wes Thomas header early in the second half was enough to see off a Brighton side that struggled to cope with Blues’ pressing and tempo.

Dear Lee: Leeds Preview
Blues face Leeds today in what is a crunch game in the Championship – win it and the teams around us lose and we are virtually mathematically safe; the reverse and we are in deep trouble. A game without a win today also sets a much unwanted all-time record in the Championship of seventeen home league games without a win. With this in mind I’ve decided to dispense with the normal style of these pieces and address this directly to Lee Clark.
