Birmingham City twice equalised in a barnstorming game that finished in a 2-2 draw with Preston at St Andrew’s. Goals from Ryan Shotton and Che Adams cancelled out Alex Baptiste and Daniel Johnson’s strikes for the visitors.

Grounds for Replacement

Jonathan Grounds made his 100th appearance in a Blues shirt on Saturday against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Despite being much maligned since signing on a Bosman free contract from Oldham, the left-back has been one of the most consistent selections in the Blues team.

Postcards from Edinburgh

Birmingham City have travelled north of the border to take on Hibernian in a friendly as part of their pre-season buildup. A squad of 20 players have travelled as Rowett starts to put together firm preparations for the start of the Championship season.

The Tiendalli Question

Dwight Tiendalli remains in the Blues squad as they travel to Gloucestershire to face National League side Forest Green Rovers in their second pre-season friendly. Tiendalli was originally on a week’s trial with Blues while the first team squad were playing in Marbella but the Dutchman has seen that extended by at least a fortnight to allow him to play in two warm-up games.

Blues Convincingly Win First Friendly

Birmingham City were 3-1 victors in their first pre-season friendly against Solihull Moors at the Automated Technology Group Stadium last night. A brace from Clayton Donaldson and a close range finish from Diego Fabbrini in the first half took the game away from the hosts who replied in the second with a good finish from one of their seven trialists.
