It’s a viewpoint I can readily understand from Birmingham City fans. Since the double blow of relegation from the Premier League and Carson’s arrest in the summer of 2011 it’s been a constant question on fans’ lips – when will BIH get around to selling the club so Birmingham City can move on?

Leeds United proved at the weekend Birmingham City isn’t the only club in the Championship with ownership problems, with the apparent incoming new owner Massimo Cellino sacking manager Brian McDermott on Friday only for McDermott to return to work on Monday as the club had not yet been sold.

With Birmingham International Holdings officially denying the existence of any bid contrary to Gianni Paladini’s radio show claims that a bid not only had been made but agreed Blues fans seem to be caught in the middle of an almost standoff between the two parties.

Sunday October 20 was the second anniversary of probably one of the best moments in my (and many others’) Blues supporting life – Chris Wood scoring a 100th minute goal to beat Club Brugge 2-1 in the Jan Breydel Stadion. It’s a mark of what has changed since that we commemorated that with being humped 4-0 on Sky by Leeds United.

Paladini to the Rescue?

James Nursey of the Mirror broke a story last night that former QPR chairman Gianni Paladini is close to completing a takeover of Birmingham City. The story goes on to say that MirrorSport hears that talks have been successful and the hope is that the takeover could be concluded before November.

After months of quiet amidst other speculation, it was reported this morning in the Birmingham Mail that the Italian Consortium behind Gianni Paladini had pulled out from bidding to buy Blues. Naturally, things are never simple at Blues and within four and a half hours of that story being published Gianni Paladini has essentially denied it.

When Peter Met Gianni

The Birmingham Mail reported on Monday evening that talks between Peter Pannu and Gianni Paladini have begun over the sale of Birmingham City to the consortium fronted by the Solihull-based Italian. Talks are scheduled to continue into today as Paladini looks to finally complete the purchase of the club.
