Midfield Questions
With five games left and virtually nothing to play for, there has been a lot of talk about how Gary Rowett should experiment with the team. Following the defeat to Leeds United and the poor display in midfield I wondered if it was in the middle of the park we need to look at options the most.

Fight or Flight
The defeat to Brighton on Tuesday night has once again shown the split in the fanbase between those who think the club has done well to achieve what they have and those who wonder if we might not have achieved more. I think my post match piece showed which side of that divide I have come down on – and the comments show just how many people disagreed with me.

Lafferty and the evolution of Blues
Birmingham City wrapped up the final emergency loan window with the signing of Kyle Lafferty from Norwich City until May 31. The 28-year-old has only made 45 minutes worth of appearances for the Canaries this season and will be looking for regular football ahead o Northern Ireland’s participation in Euro 2016.

One More Year
The official Birmingham City website posted an article this afternoon about the chances of Paul Robinson being given a new contract by the club. The 37-year-old defender has made 23 appearances this season (21 in the league), and with ten clean sheets coming in those appearances will feel his chances are good.

Hull Reflections
A deflected strike from Jon Toral was enough for Birmingham City to beat Hull 1-0 at St Andrew’s as Gary Rowett’s men reignited their playoff chase in front of the Sky cameras. Hull hit the post and the bar in the first half and had claims for a penalty in the second as they pushed hard for an equaliser.

Support and Growth
After picking up a yellow card each at the weekend, Maikel Kieftenbeld and Stephen Gleeson are one and two cautions away respectively from a two-match suspension for receiving 10 bookings.

Another month of speculation
Birmingham City were plunged into more speculation last night with the news that Derby head coach Paul Clement has been sacked. Gary Rowett has been touted by many Derby fans as social media as their ideal choice for the manager’s job in the immediate aftermath .

Kung Hei Fat Choi
Today marks the first day of the Chinese New Year – the year of the Monkey. In Hong Kong the stock exchange will be shut for three days as the local populace celebrates. The sad thing is for us in Birmingham it doesn’t seem to matter that the HKSE will be shut – BIH seems to be in absolute limbo with no sign of further movement.

Further Development
Birmingham City Academy striker Ronan Hale scored four times in the U18 side’s 4-2 win over Coventry City at the weekend. The 17-year-old Northern Irish striker is now up to 13 goals in 13 league and cup games for Blues U18 side having signed from Crusaders in the summer.

Pushing on for promotion
I think there was a certain amount of pride in the proclamation from the official Birmingham City twitter account that it was “highly unlikely” that there would be any further activity in the transfer window.
