Fifty Up For Doyle

If as expected Colin Doyle lines up between the sticks for the second leg of the playoff on Wednesday night, then the Irishman will be making his fiftieth appearance in the royal blue of Birmingham. For the keeper who has been with the club for ten years it’s a long-awaited landmark appearance and possibly one he thought he might not reach.

Huseklepp To Return To Norway?

The Norwegian press have reported that Blues striker, Erik Huseklepp, who is on loan from Portsmouth may return to Norwegian football in the close season.

Where Are They Now? Part XIV

This week I’ve been thinking about promotion, what with Blues in the playoffs and all, and I noticed that Fleetwood Town have been promoted from the Conference having scored 100+goals and accrued 100+ points. As it happens, there is a Blues old boy playing for them so I thought I’d take a look at his career after leaving St Andrews.

Where Are They Now? Part XIII

When people look back at the playoff victory in 2002 and talk about the heroes, people think about Stern John for scoring the equalising goal; Darren Carter for scoring the winning pen in the shootout. Sometimes this player is missed out – which is a shame, because in many ways he was a hero too. Like Colin Doyle, he came into the team after an injury to the regular keeper and, like Doyle hopefully did, he did us proud. I’m of course talking about Nico Vaesen.
