Can Blues Go Up? An OP Editorial
It’s been a rough few weeks for Blues fans’ promotion hopes. Defeats against Leicester away and Forest at home; stumbling to draws at Coventry and at home to Derby have seen Blues fall out of the playoff zone and pretty much kiss the chances of automatic promotion goodbye. Can Blues bounce back to the Premier League at the first attempt?

Ownership in Football – an OP editorial
If there is one thing I have noticed this season, it’s the preponderance of clubs who have problematic owners. Our opponents today, Coventry City, are also under a transfer embargo as they haven’t agreed funding for next year with their owners. Portsmouth are in administration; Leeds United fans are protesting against Ken Bates. It got me to thinking about the fit and proper persons test, and what’s wrong with it.

Gambling for Big Stakes
It’s been a bit of a strange week, even by Blues’ recent standards. Three players signed on the Wednesday followed by an announcement yesterday that Blues now have a transfer embargo placed upon them. This season has been run by deadlines and it appears Blues gave themselves just a fortnight (between the 17th, when they could loan players until the playoff final and last night) to complete their loan business. No wonder they signed Cian Hughton.

Ideals of Success
I guess there will be a plethora of postings on Blues boards this weekend about “this time last year”, but having sat here watching videos of the final and what-not I thought I’d add my two-pennorth.

Administration and lessons to be learned: an OP editorial
Administration claimed two teams in Blue and White this week in Rangers and Portsmouth as the taxman continues its threat to get heavy with football clubs that don’t toe the line. With Portsmouth administrator Trevor Birch stating that many Championship football clubs were overspending on wages, it’s a worrying time for all of us who support teams with less than rock solid finances.

Reassurance – OP Editorial on the accounts delay
So, it’s come to pass that the day of reckoning has been postponed once more, and once again Blues fans along with BIH shareholders are left waiting to find out as to the exact financial landscape of the club and the parent company. With this in mind, and taking inspiration from the questions the Hong Kong Stock Exchange have asked prior to BIH shares being relisted, I hereby submit my questions to the board that I believe need answering.

What’s Going On – an OP Editorial
I’ve been asked by a few people via the comments on articles here and by email what my thoughts are on the developments with regards to Hong Kong – to wit the resignation of two executive directors and the news that money has come into the club from the parent company. I’ve had some time to think about it now, and this is what I think. Please note unless I where I point out otherwise this is going to be speculation on my part and shouldn’t be treated as gospel truth.

BCFC, BIH and Finances: The OP Perspective
Long term readers of this blog will know that one thing I have tried to do is to work out exactly what is happening with regards to Birmingham City, and to it’s parent company Birmingham International Holdings Ltd. I have tried consistently to find information that is researched and provable to pass on to Birmingham City fans to stop some of the hyperbole and outright lies that are out there. I’ve put this article together to give you an idea of where I’ve got to; what we know for sure and what is still unknown.
