The Carson Trial – Day 36

Carson’s defence team suffered a blow as the judge rejected an application for witnesses to be called to the stand over supposed missing documents in the District Court today.

Apple Daily reports that the judge denied the application made yesterday for prosecution witnesses to be recalled to explain alleged discrepancies and missing documents that the defence had claimed had harmed Carson’s case.

The refusal by the judge to call witnesses is a massive blow to Carson’s case as it means the defence cannot try to sow doubt into the Judge’s mind over the documentation provided by the prosecution.

The report also goes on to confirm that defence experts have given reasons as to the massive influx of cash from impresario Abba Chan Tat-chee, stating it was for film development.

The case continues tomorrow at 9:30am (2:30am BST)

Edit 22:30 July 10 2013

Oriental Daily carries this report on the day’s court action, whereas South China Morning Post carries this, which includes the judge’s comments on why the application was refused. The judge’s remarks re the futility and waste of time aspect are especially interesting.

    Fantastic news……our time is coming..

    • James Black says:

      Mickey
Why take pleasure in a mans woes. The man brought us league cup success and put a ton of cash into the club, money he probably wont ever get back. Why be so nasty about a mans downfall.

      • stephen wood says:

James Black I do not follow your theme that Carsons backing helped us win the League Cup. Take a longer look, because of his dodgy dealings we are now nearer administration , We have had to sell our best players in order to keep the club ticking over, while his hench men are bleeding the club dry with bogus claims to expenses & what happened to the money we made by winning the League Cup. Can you explain that m8?

        • steve-0 says:

Criminals do NOT belong in English football. IF CY is found guilty then he will be assumed to be one and I for one back Mickey’s take 100%, IF that is to be the case.

How DARE somebody buy our club under such cicumstances and put OUR existence in jeopardy.

For a League Cup??? Are you kidding me?

  • romanblue says:

was the reference to the word ‘blow’ a few times in the article a thinly veiled hint at carsons mate jackie chan ;-)

  • Daddyblue says:

Is that all that happened in a whole court day?????????????????????????????????

  • ChrisG says:

Sounds a bit iffy that, if CY has to actually prove his innocence as you said early in the trial Dan, then surely he should be able to call on as many witnesses as possible.

  • Oldbluenose says:

Dan;, I, for one eagerly await the ” more to come “, as the apperent change of events were unexpected, ,!!!.

  • StaffsBlue says:

If he’s not allowed to bring in witnesses to account for the gaps in documentation… what chance does he have? Me thinks the judge is as bored with the whole thing as we are. He probably wants it over asap now.

  • utbb says:

in other news we lost 4-1 to mk dons, i mean know its only a friendly but to concede 4!

  • Brian king says:

Im sorry Almajir but what is an impresario and what do they do for a living.

  • Agent McLeish says:

I think the judge is fully aware that these are just delay tactics from CYs defence team. They didn’t make him a judge for a laugh and he can obviously see straight through the BS and comedy ‘witnesses’.

  • mark says:

http://www.bcfc.com/news/article/20131007-the-report-blues-1-mk-dons-4-906787.aspx excellent goal by koby,……………….. this lad will get better and better…………

  • mark says:

tbh Carson will probably keep putting in Applications so there no surprises there really…………….. whether the judge likes it or not………………..

  • mark says:

some where long the way the judge will probably concede eventually imo

  • StaffsBlue says:

At the end of the day, Carson Yeung could be facing a fair few years behind bars. Wouldn’t you pull every stunt going to get off if you were facing that?

    • mark says:

what makes Carson hearing interesting we cannot be certain either way………….
Obviously his defense will attempt any loophole they can find just as oj simpson…………whether guilty or not………..

  • mark says:

Staffsblue- just changing the subject Koby goal the Dons was just exquisite….this guy is a little pocket genius……..

  • Tony says:

IHave some sympathy with James view about Carson, he has been naive and stupid but he did it for our benefit I get no pleasure in seeing him in this situation if he has been involved in criminal activity then he will pay the price.
We won a major trophy and highest ever position in the league under his stewardship lets not forget that ,same goes for Mcleish.

  • tamuffblue says:

what a surprise Tony agrees with James Black This Man has absolutely savaged – ruined – ridiculed – bought into disrepute – asset stripped us down to the very last saleable asset we have – he and his cronies KNEW exactley what was happening and how to do it !!!! The only part that was not rehersed was the HK constabulary getting wise to him – GALLOWS ARE GETTING HIGHER !!!!!!!!

    • almajir says:

      Tamuff

I hate to say this, but carson is the worst asset stripper ever. An asset stripper buys something cheap and then flogs stuff for a profit. Carson paid three times the amount required for the club (ie not cheap) and has lost a boat load of money.

  • mark says:

where your prove of asset stripping?? the guy paid 80mil the vilers are only worth 30mil lol

  • mark says:

and if he was clawing back any money back is he not entitled too don’t you think??? obviously imo

  • Art Watson says:

    Mark,

    Please wake up!

    • mark says:

Art- I am wide awake new team new dawn- refreshing… Dont you think???. Asset stripping come one. Nathan move on…..players bought in excellent….. Look at the bigger picture not though rose tinted glasses.. …..

      • keith.hill says:

        agree totally

      • Art Watson says:

        Mark,

        Excellent players?

Lets wait and see shall we.

You will never win anything with a bunch of kids even though they have great potential.

As for asset stripping -PP has recouped some of his losses and will continue to do so until he sells the club. The losses are self inflicted and mirror the incompetence of the owners and their stupidity. And finally don’t get too excited about any future young starlet because PP will see him as a money machine -not a footballer.

Hope you have a very enjoyable season but don’t get over excited because more disappointment is ahead.

  • StevieW says:

And the pendulum has swung again. Do I get the feeling the judge is well down the road to making his mind up and could soon be ready to cast a verdict? Or is he just getting fed up with the case in general and wants it over with.

  • SteveC says:

In some ways you do feel a tiny bit of sympathy for Carson Yeung.
He got royally ‘stitched up’ by the cockney shysters, who had his trousers down good and proper.
From that day, he has been playing ‘catch up’, trying to recoup as much of his money as he could with Pannu’s conivence.
He is clearly very naive businesswise, which makes his defence to this charge, of earning this money through ‘savvy’ all the more ludicrous.
Carson in effect and us ultimately are paying for the largesse down at Wet Spam.

  • Asher says:

Lets just think if we had gold and o sullivan still in lol kinda glad he stepped in but obviously not the things that have happened afterwards come on court we need to get it sorted.
