The Carson Trial – Day 27

Former Executive Manager of the New Century Hotel Francis Lam Cheok Va continued to give evidence on the stand as the trial of Carson Yeung on five counts of money laundering as the trial entered its twenty-seventh day.

Early reports from Oriental Daily state that Lam confirmed to the court that he was only responsible for the hotel rather than the casino, and that he had only heard via an executive meeting that Carson was to be given a credit line of HK$30mil.

Mr Lam had confirmed to the court previously that laundering money via the baccarat tables would be “stupid” due to the way the commission structure works.

Carson’s case began on April 29 and was originally scheduled to last 25 days. It resumes tomorrow at 10:30am (3:30am BST).

Edit 22:00BST June 25

A fuller report is available from Oriental Daily here. It expounds on what was said above but also includes an interchange whereby Mr Lam laughed at the Prosecution’s misunderstanding of how Macau Casinos worked and why HK$ were used in payouts.

sometimes we need to give people the benefit of doubt………..making flamboyant allegations at Carson and pp with absolute no concrete evidence just serve to make people more bitter than need to be imo……… only time will tell……………….

  • Big Al says:

Day 27 eh. Can’t wait for the film. (zzzzzzzzzzzzz)

  • StaffsBlue says:

Daaay 27 in the Big Brother Howse! It’s like I said the other day, the only day I’m interested in, is the last one. It’s brilliant that OP reports these things, but we’re really none the wiser than we were on Day 1.

  • SteveC says:

    Yes Mark …
Lets all believe that arch-fantasist Carson won all the money on the tables and buying penny shares shall we.
Next week, we’ll pretend we are suphuh .. Like I was saying to Spiderman …
That Peter Pannu is an honest looking bloke isn’t he ….

    • mark says:

sorry to be awkward Steve, and you can prove he did not………judge will make his recommendation on facts……………if no facts appear then it will probably bye Carson. Until then jumping up and down will do absolutely nowt imo. I put to DAN recently is PP WORKING for bcfc as duel role………… and would this include his out pocket expenses??? Maybe if know maybe you answer the question……….be delighted to hear from you……………

  • Gibbsy says:

I am beginning to think that he might be found not guilty, is that deluded, but if it happens what will it mean to our beloved club? Carson invested in the past, perhaps unwisely, but if he decides that PP is a drain on our resources and invests in the club, I would not be against him returning as our owner

  • quokkasskip says:

    Gibbsy…… really?

  • dave mann says:

    GIBBSY……REALLY?

  • dave mann says:

we need some comon sense as well i think!.KRO.

  • Lee says:

Why would anyone want that t*** to stay? Seriously hope he goes down and gets arse raped every night of his pathetic sorry existence

  • tamuffblue says:

Can it be real ????? SOMEONE ON HERE / BLUES FAN / HUMAN BEING / PART MAN PART HORSE — THINKS THE BARBER IS INNOCENT AHHHHHHHH SEND FOR THE MEN IN WHITE COATS LOL

  • StaffsBlue says:

I agree with dave, we need to calm down a bit and wait to see what happens. It’s taking a while, but we’re nearer the end than the beginning now I would think. If he is found guilty, he can’t hang onto the club any longer, which means, hopefully, that Pannu will be gone too. The worrying bit, is who next?

  • dave mann says:

you say whats on your mind Lee,get it of your chess.KRO.

  • dave mann says:

    Sorry chest,

  • zxcv says:

Another day gone by and still no evidance given that we know of to prove where CY got all those millions that passed thtough those five accounts. I agree with the guy who said, is this witness doing more to incriminate him rather than help prove his inocent. It would be differant if this witness was saying and able to prove that he saw CY win a sack load of money, but all the info shows so far is that he spent loads of dosh and that proves nothing at all, in fact it seems to go against helping prove where he got the money from in the forst place. I find it all so very strange tbh.

  • Chris says:

Only threw what i have read from this fantastic blog in my humble opinion and it is an opinion i think that the prosecution have shown a better case for a guilty verdict than CY’s defense for a not guily verdict…

  • Chris says:

so far to date i should add..

  • SoliBlue says:

    Hi Dan

Cheers for keeping us up to date, regarding the length of the trial do you think we are nearer to the end than the start at this point? I seem to remember you saying that the prosecution have asked for a 3 week period to look over the defences notes/evidence, will that likely be after all witnesses and evidence has heard given to the court?

    Cheers.

    • almajir says:

I think we’re getting towards the end of the evidence stage – there are two more witnesses by my count plus Carson. I’m trying to get in touch with my contacts out there to find out the current lie of the land to see if there is likely to be any further long adjournments – I reckon if Carson takes the stand that there may be but we shall see

      • Oldbluenose says:

I was about to ask the same question as Soli;, If there are only 2, more ” witnesses ” for the defence, plus C,Y. ?. Hopefully, ?. We are close to the end soon, !!.

  • zxcv says:

Mark, The judge will not make any recommendations as there is no jury in this case. I think if there were a jury we would have heard the judge tell them to not consider what has been said as creditable evidence. But as there is no jury he can just disregard whatever he thinks is not evidence and will maybe say so in his summing up.

  • Chris says:

Hi almajir in your humble opinion how do you think it looking for carson at the present stage of the trial…in regards of verdicts Good/bad or optimistic…

  • zxcv says:

I think it was last friday when it was reported that a witness was due to be called from England. Dose anyone know anymore on this.?

  • Chris says:

Maybe he won on the roulette at ladbrokes so he is calling the cashier….

  • Marky mark says:

Carson on the stand don’t make me laugh.

Honest guvnor I’ve never laundered anything, the trouble and strife does all the washing. Can I go now please

  • StaffsBlue says:

Nah.. had to be the Bingo!

  • Chris says:

With his free money from depositing ten pound…..

  • Chris says:

Just gota first time on here since OP closed for the weekend and hell did i miss my fix…

  • Tony says:

Dan- we know if found guilty Carson can appeal, does the defence have the same right if he is found not guilty?.

  • Tony says:

    the prosecution of course

  • jazzzy786 says:

Does the date 11th July hold any significance. I heard a rumour that Paladini has agreed to buy Blues and is due to make an announcement on that date. Could trial end on that day? I’m not gullible but am living in hope.

    • almajir says:

No, the trial will not end on that day and I’d put my mortgage on Paladini not buying anything. I will tell you now, there is nothing, absolutely nothing, that makes me think Paladini will buy the club on any date let alone that specific one.

I will repeat what I’ve said all along – the trial could go on until october easily.

      • jazzzy786 says:

Thanks for dashing my hopes. Lol. A few on bcfcfreeforums have heard stuff on Paladini. Smoke/fire? More likely wishful thinking of a group looking for a Knight in armour to s
ave us from the evil Orientals that are slowly dismantling the club. Saying that we have no major assets left when Redmond goes so the board will surely have to sell up soon as they wont be able to continue on player sales and the club will go into administration with CY losing everything. Surely it would be better for them to get some money rather than no money.

  • andy says:

I think if Carson is found not guilty, he will retain control of the club, I don’t envisage any sale unless there is a guilty verdict.

  • Agent McLeish says:

AJ, big thanks for keeping us up to date with the trial. I’m one of many Bluenose’s that rely on what is the most concise updates out there. Keep up the good work, you deserve a Bronx hat.

  • Ozzyblue says:

Thanks for yet more great updating Dan. Whatever the outcome, I think we should all throw our unreserved support behind Lee Clark. He’s copped his fair bit of flak, but look at his overall stint and he’s the firm peg in the ground for us and focusing on FOOTBALL. It’s a tough gig for Clark, but he’s showed his mettle and persistence. We’ll win some and we’ll lose some but we shouldn’t turn on Clark when we lose – he’s only trying to make a silk purse from a sow’s ear.

  • andy says:

Lee Clark deserves the utmost respect, his attitude and commitment is second to none, he expects the same of his players and I for one am looking forward to the new season because of that.

  • Ozzyblue says:

Andy – respect bro’. Me too.

  • Bluenosesol says:

Ozzy and Andy, couldnt agree more. Lee Clark has been a shining light and a wonderful ambassador for the club. Any other manager would have picked up his ball and gone home. Thank God for him!

  • dave mann says:

looking forward to alfreton saturday week, 1500 blues fans allowed pay on the gate cash,KRO.
