The Carson Trial – Day 4
The first witness was called to the stand in the trial against Carson Yeung on five charges of money laundering.
Financial investigator Johnny Kwan Sui-lun testified to the hearing, detailing the flow of money through the five accounts in question. He referred to the period between 2004-05 whereby a Macau casino operator called SJM Holdings deposited 14 cheques into the accounts in question, totalling HK$62million (approx £5mil).
Cross-examining, Graham Harris SC referred to the length of time the original investigation took and questioned why it took three years from when the investigation started to arrest Carson. Kwan replied that he was acting as per the orders of his superiors and the Attorney General. Harris also questioned why the police when ordering details to be handed over of the five bank accounts and transactions involving eleven securities firms that they didn’t ask for the details from a further eight securities firms involved.
Meanwhile, the Judge has allowed Carson to sit outside of the dock next to his lawyers to allow him to instruct them on a speedier basis.
The case has been adjourned until Monday May 13 to allow Carson to attend the BIH AGM tomorrow.

Is that all that happened . This will take forever at this pace Kro4ever
Unfortunately, there’s a lot of money at stake, so the prosecution will be doing everything they can to make sure the government nabs the money… and Carson’s defence will be doing everything they can to make sure they don’t. A bit like turning the cards over, until someone shouts *SNAP!*
It certainly, is not exactly ” Perry Mason ” type procceedings, is it, ?.
In the meantime, We, B,C,F,C. are now back in ” Dodgy-time ” territory, once again, !!.
Cannot wait for an outcome from the B,I,H. A,G,M. Friday, — Fingers crossed something good for us,!!.
If we have enopugh money to sign Ollie Lee, then we must be well off( I have never seen Ollie Lee play, just adding my worthless ‘tuppence’ worth)(how is it worthless if it is Tuppence worth?)
I thought he was at the end of his contract………..so is a free (again)
Still got to pay wages and a signing on fee.He may be brilliant, i dont know, but we are signing players.
The trial will take months. Fraud trials always do, certainly here and in the US anyway, and given what’s at stake I see no reason for this one to be any different. As for the AGM, I’m not convinced anything will come out of that, but I am not in the world of high finance business so I don’t really know. I don’t think we’ll see any movement anywhere until we know for definite what’s happening with CY. The evidence for that is the fairly firm “there will be no transfer fees paid” comments regarding the summer window. It seems fairly clear to me that there are no pots of money going to be made available?
I would love to know how Peter Pannu and Carson Yeung got know eachother. An ex-fraud cop and Carson Yeung charged with fraud seems very interesting. I am sure Mr Pannu would not know him in a professional capacity would he?
Pete – be careful where you put your hyphens. I think Pannu is an ex fraud-cop (a former policeman who specialised in fraud) rather than an ex-fraud cop (a policemen who behaved fraudulently).
Dan. Polyanna Chu’s name has not been mentioned for a while. Wikipedia reports Polyanna Chu as owning 70% of BIH in 2011 and a personal wealth of $1.4 billion in 2013. So if that is all true she will control any AGM vote and she probably has the wherewithal in cash to sort out the BCFC finances if she so wishes. I wonder if she is still friends with CY.
George, Wikipedia is wrong.
Pollyana Chu owns 0% of BIH – you can see who owns what here.
‘Graham Harris SC referred to the length of time the original investigation took and questioned why it took three years from when the investigation started to arrest Carson’
Delay seems to be the sole ‘defence’ so far, and that’s not going to be good enough.
It’s gonna take 25 years at this rate, whats next court adjourned for the day because the judge has gotta pick his kids up from school, bunch of lazy sods get on with it !!!!!!!!!!
Did you all know we will be relegated next season while these idiots run our club? Playing free transfers and youth players always results in relegation at whatever level, just look at Hinckley Town. Just saying loike
I’m clueless here so does anyone know if BIH have to publish the minutes of this weeks AGM or release information to HKSE? Mind you, if they do I suppose it will take as long as the accounts took to get published.
They will have to release the outcome, yes
I have absolutely no thoughts about relegation next season. It’s not going to happen. At the start of the season, Lee Clark will be starting his 2nd year in charge. I’m sure he knows exactly what tools he needs for the job now. Last season, he was working with someone else’s tools. :-)
Here,here great to be positive………kro
And we are stuck with right “TOOLS” in the boardroom for the forseeable future
Is that a double entendre?
I leave it entirely up to yourselves to decide,,,,,,,however some “Tools” do have a use,,,,,,our lot dont,,,,,bent, broke, with a spanner in the works in charge
He might know what tools are required to survive next season but he won’t be able to afford to but them.
Agm could throw a few thing out on monday…this should give us done idea how much clout carson still got.. …..
It’s all disgraceful and I blame Sullivan and the gold brothers. They fleeced CY for £80k and left him with a mess. I’m sure things will improve and whilst lee clark doesn’t inspire me I have to give him credit for working under such conditions. Don’t villify me but we have always been a second division club in my view I.e not premiership so we should be happy to be in the championship. There are too many who think we should be premiership champion! Wake up, we never have or ever will achieve that so support the blues in whatever division we are in.
If he was stupid enough to pay over the odds for the club, that’s his fault, not Sullival and Gold. If you pay £1000 for a used car thats only worth £500, your’e an idiot !
Sorry I meant £80million. not £80k. Damn predictive text!!!
well said david , they could not wait to sell just so they could get west ham
in comments made by staffblue , you are right in what you say but has anyone thought about what administration could do to us next season because i cant stop thinking of it making matters worse
what do you think other teams bloggers have to talk about , we can have 100 posts without anyone mentioning a players name , or any another club …..how lucky we are ….lol
Sorry Rob….
Is there any way Sullivan and friends could be dragged into the whole money laundering thing?
Now that’s a good question :-O
