The Carson Trial: Day One – Adjourned until April 2013

04:00 GMT (Midday Hong Kong Time)

After seventeen months of waiting it’s looking like the first day of Carson Yeung’s criminal trial will turn out to be an anticlimax as his legal team once again applied for an adjournment.

Radio Television Hong Kong reported from the trial that the defence has asked for an adjournment as they require more time to prepare their case. As before, the prosecution has insisted that the defence has had since December 7 2011 to get ready for the trial and there is no further need for delay.

From information received prior to the trial, I understand that it is likely that Carson will have asked for a 7-14 day adjournment and that there this a much greater likelihood that this will be granted by the Judge.

0800 GMT

It’s now confirmed Carson’s trial delayed until April 29 2013.

As I understand it Carson’s appeal was successful and the Judge has ruled that the trial be delayed until April 29th 2013 when 25 days have been set aside for the trial.

  • Dan B says:

Al, do you think its possible hes got the case delayed so he can now successfully sell bcfc & use any money made from a sale to pay for the legal team hes after?? As i recall u saying previously he had failed to raise enough money previously??

  • Barry says:

I wonder what effect, if any, a delay to the trial has on the sale of the club. Does Yeung think it will give him more time to get a better price if he can hold out longer? The last thing the club needs is any delay in a change of ownership. Urgent funding is needed to strengthen the squad if we are to be able to keep clear of any relegation battle in our current league let alone mount any serious attempt to attempt a top 6 finish.

  • Mickey07 says:

Mayor did you see this one coming??

  • Ian says:

Even if Carson did sell the club he wouldn’t be able to use the money because his assets have been frozen haven they?

  • Masaccio says:

Even more depressing than the football we’re playing under Clark.

  • Mickey07 says:

Don’t expect this to be done by this time next year either….

  • Andy says:

Having a bad day today, and this news rounds it off nicely.

I think the judge must be a vile fan, ços this seems really bad for us. Given that we owe CY money that could be used to fund his defence, I think Butland and Redmond will be off in January. Gutted.

    Sorry for the negativity, KRO.

  • Bluemat says:

I really fear for us in January now, i can almost the here the calling in of a loan after a couple of players are sold. KRO

  • Art Watson says:

He’s defending a potential 5 year jail sentence ,his business and personal credibility.Any other matters unless they help him to win the case are irrevelant .

Any form of delay is bad news for Blues as it gives him more options and more time to do what’s best for HIM

It’s just a compete mess and sorry to say it could get worse.

  • Mickey07 says:

At the end of the day though the club is no good to yeung and pannu down in league 1 is it??

Almajir thank you for replying. It is of my opinion. Same as the kit sponsership money. Albeit from someone on the board. And also my opinion that carson cannot be trusted to do anything legal for the blues. This is the same guy who was laughed at by majeski at reading for talking the talk, but not walking the walk.

  • Asif ashiq says:

Dear blue in spain. I am not an internet warrior hiding behind a keyboard. If u want my details il pass them on. All im doing is excercising my opinion. The club i love dearly is heading downhill at a rapid rate. It mr yeung was a fit and proper person he wouldnt be up in the courts.

  • Paul Carter - The Voice Of Reason says:

If you are not hiding behind your keboard then when you make your next allegations why not prefix them by ‘I Mr **** ****** of 73 ***** St believe that……

If you post your name and address then you’re obviously not hiding.

    Otherwise you are.

It’s a shame that you have to use Dans blog to state your claims

  • Asif ashiq says:

Allegation and opinion are two different words with different meanings. As i have stated it is MY opinion. And if people dont like it thats their pprogative. Are we all meant to come on here and say wat pleases every single person? Im sure others have had opinions on this forum.

    • Blue in Spain says:

How on earth are allegations and opinions different, it’s your opinion money has been extorted from the club, how is that not an allegation? I think your a cowardly internet warrior, without the balls to accuse the owners using your real name address etc, so they can sue your ass… is that an opinion or an allegation. Start your own blog spouting this malicious crud, and see how long you last.

      • Asif ashiq says:

Dear blue in spain. If u read my email i didnot say he has siphoned anything. And wel the guy is up for money laundering. In your dictionary that should be the same thing. Money laundering and siphoning. I have nothing to hide. As my name is on all my mails that i send in. So by your email are you the internet warrior as i refuse to believe your name is what is stated on your emails.

  • Mortonsblue says:

    Al do you ever sleep?

Surely if we sell one or two key players in January and raise say £7/8 million then CY can call in part of his loans from Pannu to pay for his defence. If we sell the club he stands to get very little as he would be a debtor and I cant see the other directors approving the repayment of a loan before they get their 20p in the pound of investment back, so i don’t really think CY is worried about selling the club or what he will get for it. We don’t know where he secured the funding for his 36% in the first place so he may well owe any proceeds elsewhere.
