Vico Hui steps down from BCFC

The official Birmingham City website have confirmed that Vico Hui has stepped down from the boards of BCFC and Birmingham City plc and is no longer chairman of the club.

The brief announcement doesn’t go into who will succeed Vico Hui as chairman of the club – for now it can only be assumed that Peter Pannu will continue in his role as Acting Chairman.

Hui’s resignation leaves the club board with just three directors for now – Peter Pannu, Carson Yeung and his son Ryan.

    Nearly there!

  • Mickey07 says:

Good riddance……only two more too go in Carson and Ryan yeung….

    • almajir says:

But you’re cool with Peter Pannu being the gaffer, right?

      • Mickey07 says:

Not too bothered about him in the longterm as he won’t stick around when they sell up,but if he does stay I would imagine he will have too change his ways regarding p.r. Skills.

        • mcgibbon says:

Mickey boy..dont be taken in by Pannu, hes Carsons mouthpiece , and a very clever one at that. He has almost got people feeleing sorry for him,,amazing

          • Mickey07 says:

Oh yeh he’s not to be underestimated,I would not trust him or any of them as I only have there track record to go by,which is not the best to be fair……where’s the new investor pannu that you was talking about in your programme notes?or shall we just sweep that under the carpet as well?…..they lost the trust of us fans a year ago and he/they will never ever get it back……

  • You only need two persons to form a board of directors in Hong Kong. It seems as Carson has been abandoned by the other Chinese investors, or perhaps they are waiting for a counter-attack. You should never underestimate the Chinese.

  • pierre says:

i would not mine pp as gaffer, one tough cookie in negations!and i think he as learned a lot about running a football club over the last couple years.

  • Winka says:

Read the forum all the time new to comments so hello all.
This is good and bad news if there are no new investors then we can’t run as a going concern.
I really do think pp has something up his sleeve. He can’t take over because he does not have the money.
Then again neither does Carson !!!!!!

Does this mean we are close/r to something happening at Blues!

    • Mickey07 says:

Something happening end of the month I’ve heard…and no I ain’t got a scooby who they are…properly knowing our luck it will be someone worse…

  • Paul Carter - The Voice Of Reason says:

    They come, they go

Feck off out of our club, it meant nothing to you and you mean less to us

    Wan*er

  • marky says:

mickey you don’t speak for all blues fans he lost your trust not all blues fans i think he did a good job along with his back room team keeping us afloat

  • theurbaneguerilla says:

Hui going is positive news. He was never really involved in club, apart from the fabulous Xtep deal!
In my opinion Pannu is like Robbie Savage. Great if he’s for you but a right pain in the arse if he’s against you.
I’d love to know what his detractors would have done better with all the shenanigans in China. I think he’s a very good administrator, certainly better than Mrs Brady, old lady, and I for one am glad he’s been steering the ship between the icebergs.
Who would you prefer- Peter Storrie, Commolli, Ridsdale, Hammam.
Don’t know when you’re well off some of you.
    Well done Pannu. KRO Blues.

    • Mickey07 says:

      Where’s the new investor then?

      • theurbaneguerilla says:

No idea. It’s only been three or four weeks since he said it, if that. So what’s your point?
Sullivan, Brady and Gold said we were; trying to sign Maradona, going to rebuild main stand, etc. At least Pannu’s not spinning that kind of bull. Let’s see what the future brings. He’s certainly not going to jeopardize any deal by rushing to give you the details. Get real.
Let’s just support the lads and let Pannu do his job. KRO

      • James Black says:

Mickey shut up about new investors. Just because they are not sending you personal e mails when a deal is possibly being done doesn’t mean anything. I been reading later OP articles and everyone is upbeat and optimistic and the majority now are talking sense. But still the usual suspects are on sad pills. Nobody is lying and people don’t make statements before completion of deals. Most of the whiners have shut up but theirs always some that bask in invented strife and problems. Be quiet huh.

        • Mickey07 says:

Just saying like……just referring to his programme notes that he hasn’t backed up with this new investor….he should have kept his mouth shut till it was a done deal, now he looks a bit of idiot for mentioning it and giving fans false hope….but people like you would rather it be swept under the carpet and forgotten about I guess.

          • almajir says:

            Mickey

Let’s get this straight. Peter Pannu didn’t make a statement re an investor in “Feb/March”. In fact, he didn’t make a statement in those two months. He made a statement in January (link here) which doesn’t use the word investor.

The statement he made using the word investor was in May (link here). The exact phrase he used was:

I have been informed that once the accounts are finalised, an investor has been identified and it is likely further announcements will be made in Hong Kong. As I am not on the board at the parent company, I am not aware of the finer details at this moment in time.

Now, the key thing here is he said an investor was “identified”. Not that someone was coming aboard, not that someone was lined up to put money in but they had identified an investor. I said on here at the time that not much could be taken from that statement. (link here)

The long and the short of it Mickey is that you read too much into something that wasn’t there and that you need to rethink your views because they are clearly based on misremembered facts and details. I’m not defending Pannu; what I’m saying is if you’re going to criticise him you MUST get your facts right first.

        • Jay Sidney says:

Mickey07 is right to ask about the “new investor” Peter Pannu claimed had been “identified” about 2 months ago. Why shouldn’t Blues fans raise their voices and seek answers?

I ask James Black this: what right do you have to tell other Blues fans to “be quiet” and “shut up”?

          • almajir says:

            Jay

See my answer to Mickey and read the links.

          • James Black says:

As much right as others have to whinge and whine and bang on theories based on half truths and figments of there imagination . About that much right i guess Jay

      • Paul Carter - The Voice Of Reason says:

        Gone to Forest instead

        • Mighty_bluenose says:

Actually, working in Nottingham with forest fans there takeover has been going on for sometime. The family taking them are actually owed a fair bit from the club/estate. The best way they could ensure recovery was to take on board the club in a roundabout way. So they have been taken over by investors that have been in and around the club for sometime.
Now you don’t here much about forest but they have been in dire straits for a season or 2 with the last family/owners calling in there loans to the club 100 mill + according to the locals. Least bcfc don’t have that issue although it looks like forest are through the worse part…

  • 16yrsWFA says:

Pannu still not gone on tom ross show like he promised and who can forget waving the imaginary notes to Blues fans in Portugal! Dont understand why so many fans think we over spent heavily when last in the Premier league, yes we bought people in on high wages but they were mainly all loans hleb, bentley, derbyshire, martins etc only Foster and Zigic were big signings at 6 million each at the start of that seaon and considering we get 40 odd million from being in the premier league/sky etc plus the fa cup and carling cup runs hardly a massive outlay.

  • Euston 9.18 says:

ALMAJIR: “Do you know what the “BIG !! BIG !! NEWS” is T.Ross is on about on facebook (partner clocked it not me !! ) announcement at 8.00 am on BRMB ?????

Already posted about the chairman, trapping on there.

    • Mickey07 says:

Don’t think it’s football related mate…something to do with foxy and guiliarno,if it was takeover news then Tom would be doing it…

  • Oldbluenose says:

Almajir;, I posted on here a couple or so weeks ago, Concerning Vico Hui, saying I thought he was the decent guy,!!, — Whoops,!!. Wrong fella,!!!.

Amongst the plethera of what consisted of the early board, Can you name one of the leaders then,?.
I very obviously mistook the name V,H. for someone else,!!.

  • Ian Wilcox says:

Would it be inappropriate to say that I actually think Mr Pannu is doing a dam fine job considering he has nothing to gain?!

  • Jay Sidney says:

    A

You quoted yourself that Peter Pannu said in May that a new investor was “identified”. I have reread the relevant statement in full so what do make of the word “identified”?

    • almajir says:

Same as I did at the time – it doesn’t mean anything. I didn’t take it to mean anything about them bringing in new money – just that they’ve heard us moaning about it and that they’ve thrown us a bone to make us think that something might happen. As previously stated, I’m a sceptic until I see someone public with moula ready to spend.

  • J.jennings says:

Still can’t help but feel like sulivan is partly to blame, he knew they hadnt got the ££££, but wanted out ASAP,

    • Jay Sidney says:

Add the Gold Brothers and maybe K Brady in there, too. They claim they scrutinised Yeung’s books very closely indeed but did they?

      • almajir says:

        Jay

Why on earth would the Golds/Sullivan scrutinise Yeung’s books? All they had to do was be sure the cheque didn’t bounce. His finances and business was no business of theirs, it wasn’t a merger.

        • Jay Sidney says:

Why not contact David Gold and ask him why he claimed he and Sullivan were scrutinising Yeung’s books before that dreadfully agonised takeover? Maybe they knew how to “be economical with the truth” in the same way quite a few other football directors seem to…

          • almajir says:

I wouldn’t bother because I wouldn’t waste my time. They took the money and run – as they had every right to.

          • James Black says:

Well as the usual suspects was virtually threatening to lynch them i dont think really they was going to give a damn about what the lynch mob, (some of which are here) thought about there sale. Would you after the disgusting behavior of some. Sulivan wasnt my favourite man either but he did take us from near oblivion to the premiership again a forgotten fact. The whining and negatives was as apparent then as they are now with some.

        • Paul Carter - The Voice Of Reason says:

It was great on the pitch smashing up the goalposts

      • Blue in Spain says:

That was just to see how much they could pay themselves in ‘consultancy’ fees!

  • Mickey07 says:

Listen mayor your average blues fan on the street would have read them programme notes and thought sound new investor on the way…..not everyone goes through every statement with a fine tooth comb like you you know…but why come out with it that’s what I can’t understand and he is leaving himself wide open all the time by not backing it up……..we will all look back on this in ten years time and think we will all agree and say they was a big massive disaster for the club…times up,trust gone….kro.

    • almajir says:

      Yup.

First major trophy for 48 years, best finish in the top flight for 50 and European football.

      Absolute unmitigated disaster Mickey.

      • Mickey07 says:

Now your just being stupid mayor as you know full well what im on about….

        • almajir says:

          What?

You’re telling me that winning a trophy and having all that glory was worse than dropping to the third division for the first time ever – or having a chairman that unscrewed the lightbulbs in the floodlights to save money – or having a chairman advertise a watch for BCFC fans that you could get if you made an £18 phone call?

This is a mere blip bearing in mind some of the crapola we’ve been through Mickey.

          • Mickey07 says:

You know full well mayor I’m on about the club at this present time financial wise, would you agree that they have been a disaster or not?? Never mind the wheldon days at the club and the rest of that carry on,you properly wasn’t going down then…..I’m more concerned about our financial future with this clown yeung in charge…

          • almajir says:

I do know full well what you’re on about Mickey, and as I’ve already asserted, I think you’re wrong. It’s a blip – we’ve had worse – we were an hour from being liquidated for God’s sake. The club isn’t in administration, it’s not even bleeding close.

Don’t take this the wrong way, Mickey, but I think you’re being a drama queen about it. Relax a little, yes, the ride is a bit bumpy for now but it’ll soon be better.

      • Flying Doctor says:

Yes, well done Eck and the team. Considering the amount of money they earned for BCFC in such a short space of time, it’s incredible that we have to sell players to survive for 2 summers in a row , plus a £12m loan

  • Oldbluenose says:

Almajir, You should know by now, that some people are never happy unless there is something to grouse about,!!.

As for me, — I am over the moon that we won the Carling Cup, [ against Arsenal, at that ],

Our club playing once more in Europe, after 50, odd years, [ One more point, and we would have gone through into the knockouts ],

Oh,!!. and yes,!!. We did finish high in the Premier, to boot,!!!!!!!.

  • Paul Carter - The Voice Of Reason says:

Forest was the takeover, not us

  • Bumpyfunk says:

I wonder why has this only just been formally announced?

You ran this story 2 weeks ago…..

  • paul says:

big announcement on brmb(or free or whatever its called now) at 8am?????

  • James Black says:

To be fair to AL ive seen a trend here of runaway news based on a few misinformed comments here and there which in turn starts off a snowball effect of even deeper misreporting and before you know it Yeung is a Chinese terrorist hell bent on the destruction of western society as we know it and his mother drinks gin. Thank god that Al presents actual real solid information which in turn prevents the runaway lunacy going to far. So for me he has to put in his oar as if he didn’t god knows what we would be subjected to from the amateur journalists, lawyers and financial experts among us.

  • Gary says:

Paul – where have you heard this???

  • paul says:

gary the goalzone with tom ross on face book, maybe something maybe nothing could be me putting 2 and 2 together?

  • oldburyblue says:

Bottom line…..Are we better off with or without Hui? I for one feel much better now that he has gone. Onward and upward!

  • Gary says:

Apparently the “Announcement” isn’t football related – Tom Ross was asked about it on Twitter. Oh well…

  • bluesfreak says:

I think us noses need to take a step back and wait to see what happens , we love our club and we support them through thick and thin KRO!!!

  • paul says:

ah thats fair enough…seems strange to make that kind of comment on a football related page!

  • James Black says:

But only an hour ago the talk was that we had no investor or owner as they had gone to Forest instead. Knees are jerking and problems are being sought by the minute. This is how it goes and that’s why i always say what news do you want. Its all good fun though.

  • kentucky blue says:

Just saw in the bm that we are signing hayden mullins from portsmouth

  • almajir says:

Just to note that as I said I would, I have removed some comments from this discussion made by myself and others in the interests of keeping any conversation fairly on topic.

  • MrYuzhai says:

roll on the season.. things are certainly beginning to look much more interesting now..!

  • Euston 9.18 says:

    Mcfadden..Mullins..Ambrose.

    3 new signings ??

  • Paul Carter - TVOR says:

    No

Lovenkrands, the old goalie from Rochdale and Mullins

None of which are floating ma boat

  • Martin says:

Roll on first game of the season so we ALL (including myself) can stop talking about off field matters we can more or less have no impact on and start enjoying the blues back in action.

LC is building a squad now and althought i think we may lose davies we still have a very strong chamionship side.
