Contract Extensions

Birmingham City have confirmed this morning that full back David Murphy has had his contract extended by the club until 2014 after the club have taken up the two year option on the deal.

Young professionals Jake Jervis and Jack Deaman have been offered twelve month and six month extensions respectively.

There is also good news for Fisayo Adarabioyo, who has been offered a two year professional deals, with Callum Reilly, Amari’i Bell and Graham Huchinson offered one year deals and Mitch Hancox given six months.

However five players have been released after their contracts have elapsed – Caleb Folan, Ashley Sammons, Enric Valles, Cian Hughton and Luke Hubbins.

This is great news about the contracts especially Murphy’s but I must say I am shocked at the loss of Valles because last season in the reserves he seemed to have scored a lot of goals but good luck to him

Why has Mitch Hancox only been given 6 months as i thought he was the star of the team. Kro4ever

Top news on Murph ..he has been a solid part of the team since ‘agent’ threw his rattle out of the pram and went to West Brom!
Good to see some positive steps in the youngsters being given a deal, maybe we could see one or two play in their prefered positions instead of the seniors playing out of their positions ..and costing us dearly!
all in all, some good news!

Have you ever seen Valles play. He was the worse player on the pitch versus Oxford away preseason…. and that included the Oxford subs. Great news re murphy. Surprised they are in talks with Carr and Doyle. Hope Jarvis signs as he will get some game time next year I think. Almajir any views on how good the youngsters are?

Doesn’t sound like a club in crisis to me. More like a club planning for the future and moving swiftly to secure it’s better and more promising players.
I think it’s about time we gave Pannu a break. He hasn’t whinged about the financial situation, he’s got on and quietly dealt with the cards he’s been given. Fair play to the man who gave us Chris Hughton.
Would Del Boy; Steptoe and Mrs Brady Old Lady have dealt with all this in such a dignified way? Don’t forget it was their greed that helped get us in this pickle by overcharging Yeung & co, leaving unseen debts and attempting to help themselves to ridiculous ‘consultancy’ payments in advance.
A bit of credit to you Mr Pannu. You can take a look at my household finances if you like. I’m quite sure he’d transfer my son and annul my daughter’s exorbitant contract with immediate effect. That should ease the outgoings.
As for the wife, she’ll probably have to take a rolling one year deal and improve her scoring rate to retain her place!

wise words theurbaneguerilla ..we have all put priorities into the pitch recently, and it’s been refreshing! Carson is where he is, nothing anyone can do about it, but Mr Pannu did some tough decision making right at the beginning, and to be honest ..i thank him for it really! We could easily have been right up the creek.
Wish he could come round mine and audit the mrs ..save me a fortune!

  • NooBloo says:

I wonder how significant the release of Cian Hughton was or is?

  • Nice one urbanguerilla! I might try that tack at home; I should be out of intensive care by the time the new season starts! :-D

Excellent news Murphys form was incredible last season, consitantly performing to a high standard, unlike previous seasons where he never got a full run in the team and had injury problems. It was like having a new player last season, let’s hope he can keep it up.

Great news on Murphy but surprised at some of the contracts or lack of offered to some of the youngsters. I don’t think we can read too much into cian hughton being released.

  • Eric says:

Good old Murph – love that player

  • Jay Sidney says:

I don’t know why some people get married if they dis their partners…

    Also, Chris Hughton must stay!
