Chinese Media: New Money Laundering Accusations against Carson

News has broken in China in the last few hours of a new court case involving Carson Yeung and those words – money laundering.

This piece, which reports from the respected Hong Kong Economic Daily talks about a case in Hong Kong yesterday involving Shijun Ning, who was formerly Executive Director and Deputy Managing Director of China Water Industry Group. It alleges that his 2008 takeover of ABC Communication holdings involved insider trading, and further more names Vico Hui and Carson Yeung as being involved. The purchase has been described by the tribunal handling the case as a “typical case of money laundering”.

It’s a bit complex, but the allegations centre around money being lent by Vico Hui and ending up in Carson Yeung’s account at the time of the purchase. What makes it more worrying is at the time this transaction occurred Carson’s Grandtop vehicle owned 29.9% of Birmingham City FC – and thus unlike the previous allegations, Blues are dragged into it. As I find out more, I will update this story. Comments on this story will be disabled for now.
