OP in Hong Kong – Day 1 – Arrival.

With the season now petering out to a lukewarm conclusion and all dreams of playoffs and promotion now completely dead, I think the time has come for us to be able to take our focus away from matters on the pitch and look at what is happening behind the scenes.

Last month, BIH announced to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange that they had come to a deal with Carson to the effect that he would not interfere in any way in an upcoming EGM to relist the stock and in return BIH wouldn’t pursue a court case against him.

There has also been talk that the company are in negotiation with Peter Pannu and with U-Continent, the holding company’s second largest shareholder to come to similar arrangements. As of yet no announcement has been made on that front – although the company are duty bound to notify us of any updates on or before April 30.

Fans online have mentioned hearing on Radio WM that the EGM is close (I wasn’t in Birmingham to hear it so cannot confirm myself that is what was said) but it would tally with rumours I’d heard in the last couple of weeks. Without the EGM happening, there can be no movement going forwards to take BIH (and by extension the club) out of Carson’s hands and put them into Trillion Trophy Asia’s.

While it does seem that there is good news that there is movement I will admit I am slightly perturbed in that until now we still don’t really know much about TTA; their intentions, their modus operandi or the people that own them.

There has to be a need for confidentiality in dealings and as such I think it’s difficult for EY to tell us anything. I do think though that knowing a bit more about the people who are taking over BIH – what their past dealings were like and what sorts of sums of money were involved will give us an indicator into the wealth and possible actions of TTA in this instance.

This is what I hope to find this week. I’ll be posting articles and videos filmed here in the fragrant harbours of Hong Kong, along with all the information I can cite.

This trip wouldn’t have happened without the support of Blues fans including: Richard Wildsmith, “Eudyptula”, David Pugh, Art Watson, Roger Hooper, Gordon Fletcher, Gary Loveridge, Michael Hancox, G Miles, Neil Pouney, the Blues Trust, Blues Middle East, PJ Planning, Open Tax Services and many others.

Good luck. I hope it’s a fruitful visit.

  • Mitchell says:

All we really want is the date for the EGM. As we know there cannot be an inch made forward without this meeting.Hopefully, this date for public knowledge will not be a drawn out affair etc.

  • rhees says:

Lets hope your trip is worthwhile and you find out some good news.

  • fingles says:

Good luck Dan, and have a safe trip.

  • Dave Mann says:

My focus is still on middlesboro and Cardiff at the moment .. Hong Kong and the off field circus going on can wait till it’s resolved in my opinion .. Then and only then will my concerns be destacted . KRO

    • Mitchell says:

Absolutely Dave. Couldn’t agree more. Circus is spot on.

    • steve says:

Yep. The managers and players can’t influence what happens in HK but can give us a decent end of season. I’ll start taking an interest in HK after the Cardiff game.

    • almajir says:

Excuse me for saying this Dave but that’s foolish – what happens now in HK with the ownership situ could have a massive affect on how well we do next season.

      • steve says:

We understand that Dan,but we can’t do anything about it. We know how important it is but all we can do at the moment is support the team. And all they can do is try and win the last two games.

      • Bluey says:

Spot on Dan.With nothing to play for now our full attention should be on the off-field drama. What happens (or doesn`t) in the next few weeks/months will have have a huge bearing on our prospects next season. My focus is almost totally on what is happening in HK,so good luck and hope your visit is worthwhile.KRO.

      • Dave Mann says:

I’ve already said without being foolish that we will do worse next season than this season and for the record do you honestly think that what’s happening in the present will define our future .. No so please dont exaggerate circumstances . KRO

        • Waycoolblue says:

Well I hope Birmingham can finish in 8th place as I have had a bet on since the beginning of the season that we will finish 8th and the vile will go down on les than 24 points . What happens in Ong Kong is important to us and the club but we cant do anything about it . Hope Dan can find good news but good or bad its out of our hands. KRO

        • almajir says:

Absolutely incredible comment. I wish I could be as blissfully ignorant.

  • BlueScribe says:

Good luck Dan & thank you !

  • Mickey07 says:

Let’s hope it’s fruitful but I’m very sceptical at the same time.

  • Let’s get it sorted so we can move on and send the vile down again

  • Good luck Dan , let’s hope E&Y have done a good job in their selection , as there are companies out there that blues need to avoid ….KRO

  • Oldbluenose says:

Good luck, Daniel. Hope that you can extract some decent information about what is possible for our for the resurrection of our club,?.

  • Alanhar says:

Let’s face it is still a joke all that will happen in Hong Kong is how much money can they can line their pockets with, the last thought will be about the club and don’t forget what will be the final bill for E&Y

  • Neil says:

Good luck, you’re doing a great job.

  • Bluesy6 says:

Good luck Dan I hope you find your trip fruitful

  • Bluesy6 says:

    I should have said informative

  • Gary says:

Thanks for the update Dan. Hope you are able to make some progress this week. Good luck

  • Mitchell says:

Only question that I want answering from Daniel is whether we have funding from TTA for next season. £10m. is what’s needed which would give them a £20m.hold over us. If Daniel gets meaningful answers into the TTA regime then good on him-as up to now not even the Pope or Obama would have been able to glean any info. Since 2011 we have never been able to look ahead and each season has been a relief to get through financially without the dreaded A word. This season has been better but we still need reassurances for the next one.

  • Texas Pete says:

In the scenario of BCFC organisation, control and power, the fans are the ones who pay and yet they seem not to be involved. So it is absolutely incredible to have a representative of the say 20,000 investors, on a Blues business trip to the other side of the world! No matter what you find out Dan it is just as important that you as our ambassador are just there to ask questions. This could be the foundation of supporter real presence and influence and involvement in the running of the club? We should see it as that and look to support and expand Dan’s efforts so that next time maybe 3 people make a trip. The last home game shows there are 15,000 interested.
    Have a great trip Dan.

  • DoctorD says:

Hope you’ve got a quick-fire comment up your sleeve in case you bump into Carson or Pannu.

  • In any true partnership , you need to know what your partners train of thought is , for it to be a success , TTA are a well oiled machine which is out to make money , there is no problem there as to do that they have to make BCFC a success , We have a dream…. they have a dream… we could be in the same dream , And as DAN says we need to know what TTAs intentions and thoughts are about the club , we do not have to know about their private lives ..but what their commercial views and aims are .As the fans want success for this club too .. So Dan’s findings on TTAs intent is necessary for an amiable move in the right direction to make this club a success . KRO

  • fellowblue22 says:

Good luck Dan. I for one appreciate the efforts you put in to keep us all informed. Hope the trip goes well and your hard work pays off uncovering some truths – whatever they may be.
This summer most likely wont see an end to all this mess but i hope we can at least see a light at the end of this long ass tunnel by the end of it. KRO mate – have a safe trip.

  • Mitchell says:

Yesterday brought about certain comments that somewhat aggravated Daniel. We all respect him for this site and for what he is currently doing in HK. However, he is in a position that many of us cannot find ourselves in which has to be a privilege for Daniel. Comments made such as Dave Mann about the last two games comes from his home and away support throughout the season and for a reply labelling foolish is not deserved. Yes Daniel we support what you are doing but patience at this end by genuine supporters and more important their views must always be treated with respect providing those views are not sarcastic or offensive.

    • almajir says:

      Mitchell

Do you want to know what aggravates me the most? People who speak for me. Please don’t do that – if people want to disagree with me that’s absolutely fine. Dave is entitled to his views as much as you are.

    • Bluey says:

Dave said that what happens in the present will not define our future. I`m all for everyone having opinions but seriously by anyone`s standards that makes no sense. After all the present is the start of the future. Whatever is going on in HK currently is definitely going to shape the club for good or bad.

  • This world of ours is full of oh no you cant’s…what can we doo’s…..and oh yes we cans ,,, I think we all need to step back and focus on the fact that we all want what’s best for the club , ..KRO
