Carson Yeung Files Appeal
Carson Yeung today has officially lodged his appeal against his money laundering conviction. The 54-year-old former Blues supremo was convicted of five counts of money laundering on March 3 and sentenced to six years imprisonment.
South China Morning Post reports that the grounds for appeal are not available for public inspection and that neither Carson’s senior counsel Graham Harris SC nor his solicitor Anthony Bough were available for comment.
Prosecutor John Reading SC said
An appeal was to be expected. Defendants in these types of cases always appeal.
He will, however, have to have substantial grounds available if he expects to obtain bail pending appeal from a Court of Appeal judge.
Carson is currently imprisoned in Stanley Prison on Hong Kong Island.
